Controller Chicago Suburbs

A leading industrial products and services company in the north suburbs of Chicago is seeking a Controller. Reporting to the CFO, this middle market company seeking a hands on Controller who will directly oversee accounts payable, accounts receivable and payroll while providing critical insights to strengthen internal controls and procedures.

Responsibilities
– Manage all aspects of the accounting department, including accounts receivable, general ledger accounting, and regulatory reporting.
– Ensure compliance with GAAP and other applicable regulations.
– Oversee cash management processes to optimize liquidity and financial stability.
– Perform general ledger reconciliation and maintain accurate financial records.
– Supervise the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.
– Implement and maintain internal controls to safeguard assets and ensure accurate reporting.
– Collaborate with external auditors during audits and provide necessary documentation.
– Prepare detailed reports for management regarding financial performance and forecasts.
– Lead a team of accounting professionals, providing guidance and support for their development.

Qualifications
– Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance; CPA or CMA certification is preferred.
– Proven experience as a Controller or similar role within a corporate environment.
– Strong knowledge of GAAP principles and practices.
– Proficiency in debits and credits, double entry bookkeeping, and general ledger reconciliation.
– Experience in cash management and accounts receivable processes.
– Excellent analytical skills with attention to detail and accuracy.
– Strong leadership abilities with effective communication skills to collaborate across departments.
