Interim Controller – Chicago Area

A leading company in industrial products and services has immediate need for an Interim Controller. This is a mid size company seeking a hands on Controller who will directly oversee accounts payable, accounts receivable and payroll while providing critical insights to strengthen internal controls and procedures. This role is estimated to be at least four months and could lead to a full time permanent Controller position.

Responsibilities
– Manage all aspects of the accounting department, including accounts receivable, general ledger accounting, and regulatory reporting.
– Ensure compliance with GAAP and other applicable regulations.
– Oversee cash management processes to optimize liquidity and financial stability.
– Perform general ledger reconciliation and maintain accurate financial records.
– Supervise the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.
– Implement and maintain internal controls to safeguard assets and ensure accurate reporting.
– Collaborate with external auditors during audits and provide necessary documentation.
– Prepare detailed reports for management regarding financial performance and forecasts.
– Lead a team of accounting professionals, providing guidance and support for their development.

Qualifications
– Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance; CPA or CMA certification is preferred.
– Proven experience as a Controller or similar role within a corporate environment.
– Strong knowledge of GAAP principles and practices.
– Proficiency in debits and credits, double entry bookkeeping, and general ledger reconciliation.
– Experience in cash management and accounts receivable processes.
– Excellent analytical skills with attention to detail and accuracy.
– Strong leadership abilities with effective communication skills to collaborate across departments.
