Company Overview

A private equity-backed platform operating a growing portfolio of heavy equipment dealerships and related businesses across multiple markets. Through a combination of organic growth, operational excellence, and strategic acquisitions, the organization is building a leading regional presence within the heavy equipment industry.

The company is seeking an experienced Chief Financial Officer to join the executive leadership team and help drive the next phase of growth and value creation.


Position Summary

The Chief Financial Officer will provide strategic financial leadership across a multi-entity, multi-location organization. This executive will oversee all aspects of accounting, financial reporting, treasury, tax, compliance, financial planning and analysis, and strategic finance activities while serving as a trusted advisor to the CEO, ownership group, lenders, and operating leadership.

The successful candidate will possess a combination of financial discipline, operational insight, and strategic leadership, with experience supporting growth-oriented organizations in asset-intensive industries.


Key Responsibilities

Strategic Financial Leadership

  • Partner with executive leadership to develop and execute the company's financial strategy and long-term growth objectives.
  • Provide financial analysis and strategic recommendations that support value creation initiatives.
  • Lead annual budgeting, forecasting, and long-range planning processes.
  • Support capital allocation decisions, business planning, and strategic investments.

Accounting, Reporting & Compliance

  • Oversee accounting, financial reporting, tax, audit, and compliance functions across all operating entities.
  • Ensure accurate and timely monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reporting.
  • Lead the consolidation of multiple business units and operating locations.
  • Maintain strong internal controls, financial policies, and governance standards.
  • Ensure compliance with GAAP, lender requirements, and regulatory obligations.

Treasury & Capital Management

  • Manage enterprise cash flow, liquidity, and working capital.
  • Lead relationships with banks, lenders, insurance providers, and other financial partners.
  • Oversee financing arrangements, debt compliance, borrowing base reporting, and capital structure management.
  • Support refinancing initiatives, capital raises, and strategic financing activities as required.

Operational Finance & Performance Management

  • Develop and maintain KPI dashboards and management reporting that support operational decision-making.
  • Analyze profitability by location, department, and business line.
  • Partner with operating leaders to improve performance, accountability, and resource utilization.
  • Identify opportunities to improve margins, operational efficiency, and cash flow generation.

Acquisitions & Growth Initiatives

  • Lead financial due diligence, valuation support, and financial analysis related to acquisition opportunities.
  • Support integration activities, reporting standardization, and post-acquisition performance monitoring.
  • Evaluate capital projects, expansion opportunities, and strategic investments.
  • Monitor industry, competitive, and economic trends impacting the business.

Leadership & Team Development

  • Lead and develop accounting and finance personnel across the organization.
  • Build scalable financial processes, systems, and reporting capabilities.
  • Foster a culture of accountability, continuous improvement, and operational excellence.


Qualifications

Required

  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or related field.
  • Minimum 10 years of progressive financial leadership experience.
  • Experience leading finance functions within a multi-entity, multi-location organization.
  • Strong knowledge of financial reporting, treasury management, internal controls, and strategic planning.
  • Demonstrated success managing lender relationships, financing structures, and liquidity.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and executive presentation skills.

Preferred

  • CPA, MBA, or other advanced financial credential.
  • Experience within heavy equipment, construction, industrial distribution, equipment rental, manufacturing, dealership, or other asset-intensive industries.
  • Experience in a private equity-backed environment.
  • Acquisition and integration experience.
  • Experience with ERP systems, business intelligence tools, and enterprise reporting platforms.
