Vice President of Finance
Position Overview
A growing middle-market organization is seeking a Vice President of Finance to lead the company's financial operations, reporting, and strategic finance initiatives. This individual will serve as a key business partner to the executive leadership team and play a critical role in supporting the company's growth, operational performance, and long-term financial health.
The Vice President of Finance will oversee all aspects of financial management, including accounting, budgeting, forecasting, cash management, financial reporting, internal controls, and risk management. The ideal candidate is a hands-on finance leader who can operate both strategically and tactically in a dynamic environment.
Key Responsibilities
Financial Leadership & Operations
- Lead all accounting and finance activities in accordance with U.S. GAAP.
- Develop and maintain financial policies, procedures, and internal controls.
- Manage the annual audit process and coordinate with external auditors.
- Oversee treasury activities, including cash forecasting, liquidity planning, collections, and vendor payment processes.
- Establish and maintain accounting practices related to revenue recognition, inventory, cost accounting, and accruals.
- Oversee inventory accounting and valuation processes.
- Lead the annual budgeting process and maintain rolling forecasts to support decision-making.
- Identify, assess, and communicate financial risks and opportunities.
Reporting & Business Partnership
- Direct the monthly close process and ensure timely, accurate financial reporting.
- Prepare financial reporting packages for executive leadership, lenders, and other stakeholders.
- Develop and track key financial metrics and performance indicators.
- Provide meaningful analysis and recommendations to support strategic decision-making.
- Communicate financial concepts and business performance clearly to both financial and non-financial audiences.
- Support board reporting and presentations as needed.
- Ensure compliance with internal, external, and regulatory reporting requirements.
Strategic Leadership
- Develop scalable finance processes and systems to support organizational growth.
- Lead finance-related systems initiatives and process improvement efforts, including ERP optimization and implementation projects.
- Build and enhance costing methodologies, profitability analysis, and margin reporting capabilities.
- Serve as a trusted advisor to executive leadership by balancing strategic perspective with attention to operational detail.
- Mentor and develop team members while fostering a culture of accountability and continuous improvement.
- Support strategic initiatives, acquisitions, integrations, and other special projects as needed.
Qualifications
Experience
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field required; CPA, CMA, and/or MBA preferred.
- Eight or more years of progressive finance and accounting experience, including leadership responsibilities.
- Experience within a manufacturing, industrial, or product-based environment is strongly preferred.
- Experience with multi-entity and/or multi-site operations is preferred.
- Demonstrated success translating strategic objectives into actionable execution plans.
- Experience with ERP systems and financial reporting tools.
