Interim FP&A / Finance Leader

Our client is seeking an experienced Interim FP&A / Finance Leader to oversee a lean finance organization during a transitional period. This individual will lead a small internal finance team, supported by an outsourced accounting function, and serve as a strategic business partner to executive leadership.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the annual budgeting and forecasting process.
• Manage monthly financial close, reporting, and variance analysis.
• Administer quarterly incentive compensation processes.
• Oversee treasury, payroll, accounts receivable, and accounts payable activities.
• Support equity-related financial processes.
• Ensure audit readiness and coordinate with external auditors.
• Partner with executive leadership to provide financial insights and support key business decisions.
• Collaborate effectively with an outsourced accounting team to ensure timely and accurate financial operations.

Systems Environment

• Enterprise planning (EPM) platform
• Cloud ERP/accounting system
• Business intelligence and reporting tools

Qualifications

• Strong blend of FP&A and accounting experience; candidates with expertise in only one discipline are unlikely to be successful.
• CPA strongly preferred (or equivalent public accounting background).
• Demonstrated ability to independently lead:
• Annual budgeting and forecasting
• Monthly close and financial reporting
• Year-end audit preparation and coordination
• Hands-on leadership style with experience operating in lean, high-growth or professional services environments.
• Strong executive communication and business partnering skills.

Location

Candidates based in the Chicago area are preferred, though highly qualified remote candidates will also be considered.
